Bug Having issues with digest entries

I've tried just about every setting to try to get a workable digest and I'm at a loss.

Advanced Sorting On

The site I'm testing this on averages a few new threads per day and I have it set to send daily. I had advanced sorting enabled and each day the digest would have (mostly) duplicate threads. The images below are from June 9th, 10th, and 11th. During this period we had 8 new threads and 53 posts.

It's possible that the site isn't busy enough to avoid duplicate threads on a daily basis with the Advanced Sorting algorithm, so I figured I'd try disabling it.

Advanced Sorting Off

I turned Advanced Sorting off yesterday, using the following settings with the goal of sending a list of new threads.

I did not receive an email when the cron ran last night. Using the test function I received the digest, but it only contained a single thread (there were 10 new threads posted yesterday).

Any advice as to what might be going on would be helpful. This is the first time we've spent this much money on an addon and we'd really like to get it working :)

I came to report the same issue. With Advanced threads off and only new threads off I'm barely getting a single new thread in the digest on a daily schedule (haven't tested weekly), most days I'm getting nothing. I do get plenty of new threads daily.

I switched off Advanced threads as the majority were duplicates. That was going to be another report for you.

I've discovered an issue that would explain why unticking the "Advanced sorting" box would produce an empty or near-empty digest.

The way "standard sorting" works is, it fetches all threads that has had posts since the last time the user received the digest. The bug occurred because the "user received the digest today" update happened before the thread content was pulled.

This resulted in only threads having had posts thus far that day (e.g. only threads with posts since midnight) would be included.

I'll release the new version either later today or some time this week.

Thanks! Looking forward to testing RC1

Still only receiving one thread in the digest (same settings as before).

I haven't tried unchecking "Only new threads", since I only want new threads to be sent.

Bear in mind that if the digest was queued before installing RC1, it might not have applied to the previous email.

How often is your account set to receive the digest? If it's weekly, next week should see it working :)

If it’s daily, then this is working as intended. You’ll only receive threads that had a post since midnight the same day as the digest is sent.

I don’t remember exactly what time of day the digest is sent at but it’s s very short window.

There might be an argument for changing it to look at the past rolling 24 hours rather than hardcoding it to midnight, but I’d need to look at the code to comment further.

I’m leaving this ticket open in the meantime.

That's definitely not happening for me. Wondering if it's a timezone issue.

Sorry I’m not sure I understand. What exactly are you saying is not happening? My previous post was referring to the issue of only a few threads appearing.

I'm only receiving one new thread with each daily digest. There are multiple new threads posted each day. I have the thread limit set to 15 threads per digest. If I have all sections selected (which I do) and there are 8 new threads the previous day, I'd expect to see 8 new threads in the digest email.

Likewise I'm receiving none to max 1 entry in the digest for my daily digests. It comes just after midnight local time (EST in my case). I expect to see ALL threads with new posts since the last digest (as I have new threads only UNchecked) but again not working at all.

I hope this isn't an issue with the weekly one as I've yet to test it but everyone else is on a weekly schedule.

BTW this should be flipped to a Bug.

It would be great if you could test the weekly schedule as well, as I'm not sure when exactly I'll have time to make the change mentioned in my previous post.

I've confirmed the same for the weekly digest, only one entry in the newsletter. I did notice the thread is different from what was sent to the daily guys though, it's a thread from June 14th versus June 19th.
