I'm not seeing anything that matches your screen shots. this is what my list of mailing lists look like and there aren't any links to a 'custom template', 'unsubscribe', or 'send email'.

Do you mean the field marked "description:"? Cause, that sounds like, you know, a description of what the mailing list is about, not a place you'd insert html.

sorry yeah it took a while to find the suspect addon that was causing the conflict. turns out it was au lait's 'SEO2' addon. unfortunately it is not maintained by the author anymore so i've removed it so the members map can function. thanks for your help!
