Yesterday, I downloaded the DBTech Security 5.0.0 and DBTech Shop 7.0.0 updates and uploaded them via FTP, to my XenForo. Imagine my surprise when my forum suddenly vanished. In its place sat a blank page reading:

HTTP ERROR 500. This site is unavailable.

I try not to panic, even though I can't access my AdminCP at this point, because all I get is the above error, no matter if I try the URL for the front - or the back - end. So now what? I try to re-upload the previous updates for both the Shop and the Security add-ons. That nets me a Critical SQL error, which now sends me into panic mode. :eek:

I finally decide to re-upload the latest files (again), and somehow, that gets my forum to load back up, albeit SLOWLY - but it's showing, and I am able to log in as a member, maneuver, post, etc.

The problem now is the AdminCP. That is not working. What I see instead, when I hit Admin Login link... is this:

I'm basically a sitting duck, unable to do anything in the back end, unable to deactivate both DBTech Shop and Security, for starters. I need some assistance, one that hopefully can fix things the easier way around rather than restoring an old database and losing a bunch of content. Please advise, thanks.

First of all, going forward you should always use the Archive Installer in the AdminCP to upload add-ons (not just from myself but anyone). Manually uploading files is always a recipe for disaster.

Secondly, try editing your config.php file and add this anywhere below <?php:
PHP:
$config['enableListeners'] = false;

This should, in theory, get you back to a state where you can login to the AdminCP.

Hmm, I don't see a config.php file in my xenforo's main folder. Should I be looking in the SRC folder?

UPDATE: Able to log into the back now. Running the disabler for all 3rd party modifications.

Yeah it’s in the src folder. Once that’s done you should be able to run the upgrade script for Shop and Security via the “Upgrade” button in the addon list.

You can, if you want, disable the addons via the list before doing that, to be extra safe :)

Remember to undo the config.php edit after you’ve successfully upgraded.

Sorry for the inconvenience, chances are this won’t need to happen again for the foreseeable future as XF 2.3 was a major upgrade in terms of structure.

I have followed all your instructions, Filip - and it worked! I reuploaded the original config.php file and am once again able to access my ACP for XenForo. Thank you so much for your prompt help and attention to this issue. I cannot thank you enough! (y):cool::love:
