It may be that I want to disable a field at some point, that was already asked in the registration, but now want to disable it. For instance if I have a question that was relevant at one point, but might not be now. I wouldn't want to lose that information, so I'd want to disable the field. This is of course, assuming that we can have custom fields and that if we deleted one from the field manager, it wouldn't be deleted from the actual user profile fields.
