This will probably be coming soon but I wanted to explain what the problem is at the moment.

Ib games that wernt categorized in the old arcade system ie set to default now fall into the new category system but you can only move them around in bulk and not individually.

Mochi games on the other hand seem to be well tagged but would be better if you could add a tag/category if you would like the game to appear in another category also.

Example

The mochi game shuttle has these tags :o

Yep, category assignment to games is part of the game manager. For mochi, not all keywords are Categories, and the ones that are garbled up i believe are chinese games.

Not upon import, and i dont like that anyway.

Import will try to include games in your existing categories if the names match, and alternatively add the new ones if you check the checkbox.
The current and in-next-beta tools let you merge games between categories and add/remove from many games at once (or individually), so that should make assigning and correcting those quick and easy without cluttering up the import process, since games can belong to more than one category at a time.

Plus, most of the time the games are correctly sorted already, and when they arent you can quickly merge+delete the extra categories.

Well that's not good, lets say I have a folder of games from IPB that I downloaded from their Bouncing & Jumping Games category.

Now that category has 365 games in it, and if during import it spreads them all over the place, I would need to chase 365 games around to get them all into the category I want.

:p nope, just check the box for add new categories, and theyll be added to jumping and whatever.

then, from your categories, click the number of games link and itll take you to the game manager, narrowed down by that category.

from that page, select arbitrary numbers of games to add or remove from various categories as you wish. everything you wanted to do, in one place, except outside of the tenuously arranged import process :p and it applies to non-imported or previous-imported games just as well.

maybe should wait for me to release the next beta with the game manager in it, been working on it all weekend.

I guess I will have to see, as I already imported 7 games from IPB and it did not put them into any category, when they should have all except 1 went into a category called Arcade-Bejeweled, but they end up only in All

Then you didnt check the include new categories box next to the import games button.

but trust me, i spent a long time trying to make the mass category applicator for games nice, and the solution was actually one of those great shower ideas lol.

:p the category is not listed in those files at all, so my importer could not have possibly known where you got them from.

That's what I am trying to say, alot of games from IPB have no category assigned to them, so if I import the games I have to manually change them which is a tedious process, rather than being able to select category upon import.

well, in the next beta, just go to the game manager, sort by date (courtesy of the other thread lol) with a perpage you like, and from there, select X amount of games to edit, select category to add at the bottom, and submit. repeat for additional categories.

Ok I will see how it goes, I hope it is as easy as you say, I know you have been working on this stuff alot lately and I do appreciate it! :D
