When importing games directly from Mochi, all of the import check boxes are checked on each page. I don't know about everyone else, but I usually only want one or two things at the most per page so I have to click the uncheck all, then check the ones I want. I just feel that not checking them by default (but only if you're doing an import like Mochi where you haven't already decided what games you want) should be the default.

This is hard to do in a modular manner

I know I'm completely ignorant of what it'd take, but...
It sounds like you should only need to check if the game type is "mochi" that you're importing on the output of each game when looking at the import display, and if it is, don't set the checkmark.

Yeah, I know, it's way too simple to actually work, but it SEEMS that easy. ;)

:p yeah, being picky over a specific module means its no longer modular. i cant let it lose modularity, or it will be a nightmare like the other two.

i cant even just turn that on for feed import type, because v3 arcade live install uses that and you most likely want all of them too :p

I say you just disable them all by default. =) Then, if you DO want them all, you click the checkbox to check all and you're done.

BUT, I get what you're saying and it might break what you've been trying to accomplish. Just consider it a wish then and maybe in the future you'll find a way that it works out. =)

Ohh and I only mentioned it because I've almost imported 20 "Suzy Dressup" games that Mochi seems to have, on accident a few times... do you have any idea how much razzing I'd get from my members if I installed some of those and couldn't delete 'em?! ;)

Well, I guess i could just auto-off during the feed import type only, since its usually going to be new games and its got the checkall box. just makes it hard to pre-select non imported games.

needs more thinking first.

Sounds good, no worries really, but if you can do it at some point, it'd be good. =)

ive decided to just decline this. its not consistent, not modular, it would lose the auto-not-installed checked first, and you can just click the checkall box to uncheck everything immediately if you really needed it. plus, deleting games has been supported for awhile for accidents :p

I have more feed based importers in the pipe, and i am under the impression that the average arcade admin prefers to suck up as many games as possible instead of carefully picking them individually (barring the general tags at the top etc).

By unchecking everything by default, the average arcade admin must now re-check the checkall at the top, and lose the automatic un-check of already-installed games.
I think that accidentally installing games is uncommon, since you need to have scrolled down and observe all the checked games, ample time to stop yourself. not to mention the average admin probably doesnt care too strongly in that case, and you can still uninstall them.

So, why harm the common scenario admin (installing games with abandon) to help out the uncommon scenario admin (accidentally installing games)? Force the uncommon admin to do the extra click instead, to get to their desired state (everything unchecked by unchecking the checkall).

I cant add a poll easily to this thread, so if anyone wants to disagree with my interpretation, please post it....

The way I see it, 90% of the games out there are crap, so I like to filter through mine and pick and choose. If I don't want a game today, I don't want it tomorrow and I don't want it auto checked and installed when I know I don't want it.

I have *NO* problem clicking the checkbox at all and it's fine. I just don't agree that most admins want 25,000 crappy games to weed through to find the 2500 good ones. We'll find out and like I said, no big thing. =) Anyway, not arguing with your decision, it's yours to make, I just think release, you'll be asked this again from others. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. =)

I don't care either way, if I have to click the box to check all it's fine with me, or it can stay as is.
