Question Enable automated email validation

You clearly state port 25 for this feature. My Email host uses SSL port 465. Can 465 be used, Xenforo bounce uses 465 okay?

The reason why port 25 is used is because it’s not a normal mail server connection. It’s a connection that gets cancelled before any actual mail is being sent, because the remote mail server will report whether the account exists.

Okay I think I get it. I did have it turned on and I see entries in the Email verification log but not a lot and there is a mix of responses of unknown, failed, blacklisted, hard bounce. Can I assume that its working correctly?

Looks like it yeah, as there would only be one type and it’d happen for all users if it wasn’t working.
