This is a major problem.... What happens to the files when the upload folder is full?

There's no storage option!

The upload folder will only become full when you run out of diskspace. If this is happening then you should either delete some of the larger files or increase your storage capacity on your server.

I'm sorry but I think you don't understand the problem. Its not a space problem.

If you know how works FTP softwares you'll find that there is a 1998 files limit for a folder.

We should be able ( with vBDownloads ) to choose in which folders which files are stored depending of the download categories. Not to pack everything in a single folder ( files and images ).

That means that, presently, vBDownloads limits you to have only 1998 files or 999 files + 999 images ( the files + the thumbnails ).

That is a limit on browsing files through an ftp client. The amount of files that can be stored in a single folder is not limited to 2000, it's theoretically unlimited on both *nix and windows systems.
I do see a reason for breaking them up into separate folders, but that should be asked for through a feature request and not a bug report since it's not really a bug :)

I had a similar issue before and contacted my host and the changed the limits for folder space for me, so I would try that.
