Do we still need to use the Automated bounced email handler and Automated unsubscribe email handler settings in Xenforo mail setup?
Email is a real problem. People subscribe via email then they complain when they get it. I've already had a warning from AWS.If you've set up the HTTPS topic/endpoint/whatever Amazon calls it for both Bounce and Complaint, I don't believe you need the Automated Bounced Email Handler.
Unsubscribe Email Handler I'm unsure about. I don't know if clicking the "This email is from a mailing list. Unsubscribe now." link in your email client is what Amazon considers a "Complaint", or if that's someone reporting the email as spam.
That is my plan, I'm just nervous. I don't want to get booted off AWS. I already messed up once ;(You could also try the email validation feature in this addon that’ll clean out your mailing list.
The validation feature does not actually send any emails. If you’re really concerned, back up your AWS credentials and revert to your host’s SMTP details in the email options. That is my plan, I'm just nervous. I don't want to get booted off AWS. I already messed up once ;(
Good to know. I turned it on last night. in 12 hours not much activity. I'm assuming it runs in the background and does batches? The validation feature does not actually send any emails. So before my site sends out an email it checks validity?Amazon will ping your server, it's not something triggered on your server's end.
