Question Settings up forum on local machine

I am using a different computer using ubuntu server to build a website on and just mimicked a domain to use for it for when i do upload it to a webhost it will be ready from day one.

For some reason it won't let me install the arcade, it's telling me about .htaccess that i need to enter, and after i did it's still telling me to put in the .htaccess. So obviously it won't install without a official domain?

Try temporarily CHMODing your .htaccess file to 777, import the XML, then CHMOD it back to what it was before.
