I have been using VB Optimise for some time now. Yesterday I upgraded to the latest version from 2.3.0 pro.

All seemed to be working fine, pages loading quick. however I've notice my blogs are now returning 500 error. If i disable VBOptimse it works okay again. I have tried VB Optimise with XCache and Memcache, the blogs do not work with either caching. Even if I turn VB Optimise to offline, I still loose my blogs.

I can view the blog list.
Recent Blogs Posts

But if I click on a blog item, is where I get the 500 error.

So when the plug in is enabled but set to offline, I get the issue. If i disable the plug in, my blogs are working again.

Where would I start looking for fixing this?

Please look at your server's error_log file for the time and date in question.

In some cases it may be located in /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log though this may vary based on your system.

Thanks for the fast response. I'm using CentOS, in /var/log/httpd/error_log there are no extra entries when i refresh the blog when it generates the error.
I also looked at a few other log files, but nothing much happening in them either. I was running google Pagespeed and VBSEO, which I also disabled. Even stopped the forum using and caching in the config.php, to see if that could give any clues. It is strange that every other section works apart from the blog section. The only thing I have changed yesterday was upgrading VBOptimise, the new one has some great extra features.

I was hoping the log file would steer me in the right direction.

If I view the blog in firefox I get a blank white page. Its only in Google Chrome when i ask for more info, it show Error 500.

Looking at the page generated its
<html>
<head></head>
<body></body>
</html>

So i guess its not really an Error, (google chrome thowing me up the garden path there) so i guess it wont be in the log as the page has performed okay. Its just a blank page. I guess this points to a caching issue now.

I've turned off all caching. Still problem.
However found something new. If I disable VBSEO, obviously URL is wrong, but the Blogs will work with VB Optimise plug-in enabled.

Hm, are you using vBSEO's caching system? If so, what happens if you turn that off and re-enable vB Optimise?

I set VBSEO cache to None, I have the choice of Memcached and Xcache, which I have tried all three options and still hasn't made a difference though.

One of our members mentioned the 'LIKE' link on the threads disappeared and said it was back now.

It appears when vb optimise is on, the Like / Share links in a forum thread seem to not be shown.

Another interesting thing. I got the blogs back. VBOptimise is working/enabled, Xcache is in use VBSEO is enabled.
So what's changed I disabled another mod.

DragonByte Tech: Advanced User Tagging (Lite) 2.0.5

Without this the blogs are also working. Its an old version now, I should update this and try again... I will do this a bit later.

Think everything is good now.
The Like / Share links are back on the forum threads now once I set:
(Pro) Cache Templates in File System to Off.

Uninstalled DragonByte Tech: Advanced User Tagging (Lite) 2.0.5
and blogs are visible with VBSEO and VBOptimise enabled.

It was an odd one this. as disabling VBOptimise brought the blogs back, or disabling VBSEO also made the blogs work, or disabling Advanced User Tagging also brought the blogs back. With all three enabled it didn't work. As the User Tagging is an old mod, and i dont have the licence to upgrade I have removed this and Blogs are working fine, no more blank pages.

I'm posting the conclusion in case other people have similar trouble.

All fixed and working now :)

I do not know, as I would have to purchase the latest version of AUT, looks like I purchased a limited time instead of Lifetime I have for some other mods.

Did you make that purchase on another account? I don't see any AUT license attached to your current account.

Also, the Lite version is free, so you can test the latest version using the Lite version :)

Looks like it was the Lite version i had before. V2.0.5(lite) so looks to be an old version. I have put on v3.0.8pl1(lite) and no issues at all now. Blogs working forum links working. :) so all good.
