Bug No Sound

there is no sound for any user on the chatbox, checked the settings and all is setup for sound.

Do you have quicktime installed/on or whatever? The sound is played through that.

ff latest version 4.3 is it, and ie 9 which ive rolled back to ie 8 to see if that was the issue and its the ame on ie8 also

right were new to vb just come over from phpbb3 we dont have any accounts sorted for just admining just the shoutbox, but i can give you a spare admin login if thats ok ?

Ok all the settings look good, check in your usercp, shoutbox settings, and see if Shout Sounds, Invite Sounds, and PM Sound boxes are ticked.

Ok I noticed on your default skin darkness you edited the template dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox, was their a particular reason for this?

yes added <br /> to top to create a small gap between the bottom forum and chatbox as they were touching.

I reset the template to the way you had it as that did not seem to work.

I tried all I know how to do, unfortunately this may be a browser issue, maybe Fillip H. has something else to try. I did all this:

If you are having problems with sound, please follow this check-list:


1) Did you select a sound to be played in the Instance Manager?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Instance Management -> [Edit] -> Shout Sound / Invite Sound / PM Sound YES

2) Are sounds turned on?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Settings -> Enable Sounds YES

3) !!!Pro Only!!! Are sounds turned on in the UserCP?
UserCP -> Shoutbox -> Shoutbox Settings -> Shout Sounds / Invite Sounds / PM Sounds YES

4) Is the QuickTime browser plugin installed?
QuickTime Plugin- Please note that you need to restart your browser after installing the plugin.

5) Does it work in other browsers?
If you only have one browser on your computer (Internet Explorer) you should try out Firefox. NONE

6) Is the following text present in the source of the page: <embed ?
Right click -> View Source -> Ctrl+F -> <embed NO
If this is not found, and all the above steps are completed, then you may have an out of date template. Please revert any customisations to dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox TRIED


If none of the above steps fix it for you, then it's a browser issue that we are unfortunately unable to assist with.

Depending on the reason it doesn't work, it may or may not be a bug. Not working doesn't by default make it a bug. It could just be some compatibility issue, something missing, etc. As I use the mod on my forums and the sound works, it works here, etc (on the browsers mentioned), that is why it can't immediately be called a bug. However Fillip H. will have to check it out and you can be assured that if it's a bug, he'll get it fixed. DBT has simply the best support I've ever come across for a company, especially one their size, so don't give up hope or think they won't try and help, they'll do everything they can. =)

I just registered on your site, went into my UserCP via the Options link in the shoutbox, turned on sounds, and they work for me
