Sorry for the delay,

I can find no mention of such a feature in the feature list or the Usergroup Manager, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist.

I'll change this thread to a Feature Request.

Cheers, will a request take much time ...

Generally DBT don't give out projected estimates for feature updates to products as the schedule changes. It will be looked into the next time vBArcade is up for a feature update, but that don't necessarily mean it will make it in that update.

We aren't able to provide ETAs for new features unfortunately :(

This is also a quite extensive feature, it requires not only duplicating code that can't be directly copy/pasted, but also special care to avoid circumventing the admin permissions. In the AdminCP we can generally speaking assume that, for instance, a game with HTML in its description is okay to have HTML in, since it's an administrator that has authenticated himself.

Disclaimer: "HTML in game description" is purely an example, and in no way, shape or form reflects the actual functionality of the modification.

We can't make the same assumption for user-edited games, since there's a lot less security behind a normal user's login (there's no vBSecurity IP Address verification / restrictions, for instance). Thus, not only is it more likely that it's a malicious user editing the game, but also the once-trusted user could have gone rogue due to feeling wronged.

That's one out of approximately eleventy bajillion reasons why we can't just slap this feature together for Friday, as much as we'd love to :(

As this is a feature I've wanted for a long time, I'll chime in here too. =)

Yes, you are 100% correct that a user could go nuts and screw things over. But I'd much rather he go nuts and screw over my arcade, than my entire forum because I had to give him overall admin access, just so he could admin the arcade. =) Or in the case of my setup, the arcade go dormant because I personally don't have the time/desire to update it all the time and whatnot. But I have people that could/would, that can't because I have no desire to pass out admin accounts.

So, yes, please make this a feature if at all possible.

There is an Admin permission for the arcade, which you can use to construct an admin limited to the arcade management.

That won't work for anyone since it will allow that person to post HTML announcements, and also will allow them access to any 3rd party modifications that do not implement their own can_administer() check (even if against existing vB perms).

I know from experience this covers a lot of 3rd party modifications.

Well we just went through the whole "they can post html in game descriptions" so figured html in announcements was an equal risk :) Set up someone you trust and hope they dont go rogue in either case.

No, we didn't. We went through the fact that adding protection from HTML in descriptions for front end admins is part of why this feature can't be added in a day like a new ACP feature could be.
