Looking for a setting so the default font can be a bit larger to actually see it.

Also don't see a font size bbcode button on the editor...is this an option at all? I see it in the adminCP but don't see a button for it..or do you have to manually type in the bbcode?

Also I tried to turn on sounds, but not hearing anything?

Lastly, I see shoutbox in UserCP at the bottom with no menu/link?

Changing font size is a Pro-only feature. The settings you see only control the SIZE BBCode, which would need to be typed out manually.

The UserCP is just a placeholder, only the Pro version has actual settings per-user.

If you are having problems with sound, please follow this check-list:

1)
Did you select a sound to be played in the Instance Manager?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Instance Management -> [Edit] -> Shout Sound / Invite Sound / PM Sound

2) Are sounds turned on?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Settings -> Enable Sounds

3) !!!Pro Only!!! Are sounds turned on in the UserCP?
UserCP -> Shoutbox -> Shoutbox Settings -> Shout Sounds / Invite Sounds / PM Sounds

4) Is the QuickTime browser plugin installed?
QuickTime Plugin- Please note that you need to restart your browser after installing the plugin.

5)
Does it work in other browsers?
If you only have one browser on your computer (Internet Explorer) you should try out Firefox.

6) Is the following text present in the source of the page: <embed ?
Right click -> View Source -> Ctrl+F -> <embed
If this is not found, and all the above steps are completed, then you may have an out of date template. Please revert any customisations to dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox

If none of the above steps fix it for you, then it's a browser issue that we are unfortunately unable to assist with.

Got the font changed myself. For the record, I don't think you specify a different font size from the site's default css. It should be set to maintain the same font ...i.e., "1.0em".

It appears this is not working on my forum. #1 and #2 are a yes.

I'm on a mac...can a mac even work without quicktime? ;) But yeah, not working in Mac Chrome or Firefox.

I am not seeing any embed code from the db script. I do have other embeds. Any suggestions to remedy this? This was a fresh install so shouldn't be any templates to revert.

Not that I think it is a browser problem. But this is a concern, since I need to support multiple browsers.

Maybe the sounds would work in the pro version?

Does the proversion allow you to format the date/time stamp?

Is there any import or way to maintain my member's number of chats from mcg chatbox to vb.shout?

The only problems we've heard about sounds in any version is that the Mac browsers don't like the QT library we use (for some reason). In the future we'll look into alternative solutions for playing sounds, but it's not easy given how most browsers don't properly support the HTML5 tags yet (and we'd be leaving lots of older browsers out in the cold).

The timestamp is using vBulletin's default timestamp, we'll look into making it changeable in the future :)

There's currently no importer from mcg, nobody's ever requested it before.

Any idea how hard of a project it would be for you to make an importer for mcg if I go pro? I am only interested in carrying over the number of chats per user.

I don't think the sounds are working for anyone's browser on my site. I had asked members last night when we were testing it out. I'm sure most peeps are on windows boxes. It appears that the problem is the embed code isn't being injected.

As for the time stamp, I don't really care about the date or having it say "today". I currently have the mcg chat I am using set to auto perge after 24 hours.

Pro version of vBShout also lets you purge every 24 hours, though a user's shout count will decrease by doing so, so an importer - if what you're looking for is to preserve users shouts - won't do much good I'm afraid.

If you upgrade my account (Fillip H.) to Admin with Can Admin Styles, I can see if I can debug the sound issue further and amend the canned response if so :)

hrmm...I know my users like to see who is king of the shout box. I'm sure they will be disappointed if that stat no longer has any meaning. But I also don't see a lot of value in keeping shouts forever. Would it be real hard to make that a setting...to not subtract pruned shouts?

It's not something we can sit down and do in 5 minutes no, but we'll take it into consideration for a future version :)
