Question Duplicate title tags

How can I solve this problem? these problems started when using DBSEO

now my forum is indexing content very slow (2 - 3 weeks every thread) when in the past, each thread indexed in hours!

Note: im using DBSEO 2.40 Lite

To elaborate, what you are seeing is that certain post permalinks have the same title tags as the threads they are contained in - this is normal and intended. You should not include individual posts in your sitemap, rather letting Google index the thread as a whole. For the end user, the experience is seamless as those permalinks will redirect to the regular post in the correct position.

For search engines, there is no negative impact as those links shouldn't be indexed normally. Even if they were, it is a good thing to have the title be the same as the containing thread, since you want those links on Google to reflect the content the user will be seeing.

If you have actual statistics from the past 3-6 months that show there's a direct correlation between the number of duplicate title tags and search engine rankings, please feel free to post them

are you serious?!!! Google doesnt like duplicate content, this is penalized! and yeah shouldn't be indexed normally, but the problem is that they are indexed!

And if this was duplicate content, you'd have a point, but it isn't

Duplicate page titles are warnings that your content may not be differentiated very well on Google. If you have let's say 10 threads that all have the same page title, users won't have any way of knowing the titles are different.

If you have 10 links that all lead to various different parts of the same thread, then it is not a problem that those 10 links have the same page title.

Please make sure you are aware of this difference, as it is vital.

If you can find any other resource on the internet that has said statistics, even if it's not specific to your site, please feel free to post it. Otherwise, I don't think it's a wise idea to change something that is well established.

Stop messing around with the problem! it is obvious that dbseo is the one that generates these errors! Im sure that these errors are responsible for the loss of positions in the serps.

It’s worth noting that DBSEO does not rewrite your title tag in any way, shape or form.

Make sure the showthread template has the thread title in the <title> tag of the HTML.

In that case, can you make sure you've reverted the SHOWTHREAD template (removed any customisations) in case that is the problem?

In that case I would recommend disabling DBSEO and looking at the pages listed in your previous post again, if the title tags are still wrong then it's not the fault of DBSEO
