Adverting?? wtf!!!.. Did Cosmic not advertise your company on here also?? That was ok right?, but its not ok to mention DBT on your site? .. as for Trekkan post point of his post was pretty much simple. will ioncube continue and how much will it cost to remove it. so he can customize it to fit his site, which I too like to do. Beside ioncube does add load to the server and I kinda hate it myself .. and not all successull scripts use ioncube. So we cant say that a script is only successfull if its ioncubed. P.S You do know IonCube can be decoded right? so.... yeah

Not to mention that vBulletin itself isn't encrypted at all... You know.. the product all of these mods are written for... ;) I support anyone's right to encrypt their stuff, it's theirs. I also support my right to not use it and tell you why.

As a bystander just watching it unfold I'm glad that I'm a customer where I am (aka here @ DBT) and not at that other place. The vbcredit fella had a chance to explain himself and instead came on to this site bitchin' and moanin' and threatening copyright infringement, calling people unprofessional when he is the epitome of that, etc.. On the other hand, he is not smart enough to spell the word "witch"...

So you think you're on a 'which hunt. My question to you is this.. Was your 'which Ham & Cheese, or was it a BLT?

Wow people this is elevating ridiculousness to epic proportions. On what is supposedly the eve of DBTech's replica credit mod, this sudden "shock" and "horror" and the mass emails strikes me as more than a little disingenuous. Pouncing with such vigor on a minor issue smacks of opportunism and makes us wonder why this and why...now?

Is it because it's not clear after all who owns the code? If darkwaltz owns the code then why on earth was he releasing it under the PixelFXStudios moniker all these years? Surely such efforts earned him compensation too.

To the most casual of onlookers this looks ugly. From all appearances we have a coder whose prized work rests with PFX Studios and when they parted ways he wanted to keep his work (and emotional investment) with him. Fast forward just a few short weeks and we now have a second credits modification being released within days of the vBCredits modification, when the vBulletin community would be best off with ONE.

This looks more and more like someone wanted to "stick it to 'em" and get their baby out the door through another channel. Is this true? Maybe, maybe not. But if none of that is true it doesn't matter - perception is reality - and this mudslinging only contributes to it.

After reading PixelFX's point of view, and reading all the "hate" comments from the users here. (not from staff) I honestly have no words for the unprofessional behavior here. If you want this to be a place of business, then make it a place of business. Some users needs to be silenced. For an example, take a look at vBulletin site, do you see any of these type of comments. They censer a lot of stuff there. I know the staff recommended VBC to the users of DBT, and I know why the owner posted this thread. Being on the back end of an online business I know first hand that if the customers know 100% of what goes on in the background they would be horrified. If you take anything from my posts, keep this place professional and your products will sell themselves. If a wannabe customer comes here and see's a thread like this and reads the comments and interprets them they way I do. I would hit the X button and leave.

Like this quote on page 2 from Trekkan
Anyway... it's called a "witch hunt", just in-case you want to use that term again, you might as well be correct.
Insulting other people

I do agree, This is becoming to look like a witch hunt. I don't know the circumstances behind Dark's move to DBT but from what I understand. VBCredits is still and should always be PixelFX's because Dark left the company. If you leave any company unless you have stated earlier, the work stays with the company.

Regards
Patrick

Was there a no-compition contract signed? for his work to stay pixel?

P.S Spell correction isn't insulting

Think what you will, but the he's the one saying I'm hurting his "credibility" and such by what? Mentioning my reasons for using another product? If you don't want mud slinging, don't start it (meaning him, not you). In any case, you're going to believe what you want and you're entitled to do so. Unless you disagree with Pixel, then you'll get globally ignored of course. ;)

As to your comments about vb.org and how they handle things, I completely agree with you, that's fine. However what happened to me is that I was globally set on ignore. No posts I posted anywhere(past or future posts) were/would be visible to anyone but me and admins. I was not told this was done (unlike vb.org does when they moderate a SINGLE POST), it was just done and noticed later when I went to another computer and wasn't logged into the site and I realized I couldn't see them. Why? So I wouldn't know it was done and mention it? Why else? He COULD of just moderated and said "Please don't mention competing products on our site that we ourselves mention on our site.". While not really making any sense... it still would of told me he was doing it.

However, I do have to agree that enough is enough, which is why I said goodbye on my last post on his forum. He doesn't have to worry about me posting there again, and you only have to worry about me posting on this subject, in this thread. Which if you choose to read, is up to you.

Goes and grabs some popcorn.

It is disappointing how pixel handled the situation and just censored things. That tachy function is used for severe trolls usually, i find it insulting to DBTECH to be placed in such a feature after they were recommending them here on there own site. If anything, he brought this on himself. However...

I wonder how long this will go on for. I think both parties need to discuss things privately, get things sorted once and for all, and then close this thread. Even tho it is entertaining, but in the long run, it is not going to be good for either site.

Indeed, closed it will be for now. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and the thread will remain public, but for now I am going to close this due to escalation which while understandable - isn't necessary. Ultimately it's upto Cosmic so you may see him re-open the thread and slap me about :p

Closure is agreed with.

I left the thread open to allow customers etc to give their opinions on what happened, and they have been kind enough to do that.

The overall concensus seems to be that people *don't* like how VBC acted, however there are also a few concerns that posting this publically may be misinterpreted.

Hopefully I fully explained why i felt the need to do so (If someone had recommended VBC to me i'd very much hope they would inform me as soon as possible of this kind of thing).

Even so, Rob has had his say now, and the thread was starting to escalate a little, so the closure while i was asleep was a good call =)

Kept and archived fully for people to read.

Cosmic

Just a little update on this in there interests of fairness:

Rob has taken myself and Trekkan off of the global ignore list, and now instead simply deletes the posts he dislikes =)

Which i guess is kinda an improvement...

Update: It appears the posts have been moved to an "off topic" thread instead.

Apparently the post
Great news, Congrats!
is relevant and can stay, but the post

=) Good to see this.

Here's hoping you guys can get the bugs ironed out and the front end completed ASAP so we have some competition ^.^

Cosmic

Is not.

It really is beyong belief why he feels the need to try to hide this stuff from his users. Ah well.

Thought it was only fair that I let you guys know that they don't appear to be ignoring people anymore at least. Well, as far as we have proof for.
