Hello,

I'm having a problem with a few things and hoping you can help:

  1. When a user clicks the "Add To Favorites" button the get an error message saying "We are sorry but you do not have permissions to view the gallery. Please speak with the administrator if you feel this is an error." Well, obviously they can see the gallery but cannot use the favorites button. However I can as the administrator. I must be missing a setting somewhere I just don't know where.
  2. When upload images, there's a link next to the "Album" pulldown menu "Add Album." When clicked that link also shows the same error message as above.
  3. However the same "Add Album" link doesn't give me, the admin, the error message but it also doesn't carry over to the next page as an added album. The only option to add albums is the "add album" link under the top NavBar.

I know some of these are simply a permission setting somewhere that I've missed, but the last one seems more like a bug. Maybe I should of started a new thread for that one...

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Another hinky issue...

I had my forumblocks set to 5 of the "Latest Images." I changed the setting to show 6 "Random Images" but it still shows the 5 latest images. It's been about a day since I changed the setting and people have added images already to the gallery.

I made a similar change to the CMS widget but those changes did happen as I wanted.

These were old errors from the first version. I had them fixed, I'll check to make sure I didn't reintroduce them with some other code changes. Do you have multiple galleries and this is happening they're not viewing the default one?

Are you talking about the sidebar or the horizontal forumhome? Also, what type do you have set. I checked the code on the forumhome and it's using the right variable, so it should be showing 6.

I only have one instance of the Gallery running on my live site if that's what you mean.

I'm using the sidebar. Not only is it showing 5 but it's also not showing random, just latest. Latest and 5 were the original settings that I changed. The sidebar is showing instead of the horizontal bar. That part works fine...

The forumhome doesn't set the sidebar block though. The sidebar settinngs are at
ACP->Forums & Moderators -> Forum Block Manager

I'm still checking on the permission problems

AH..... Ok. That was a little confusing to me. I set number of photos to 6 in the Forum Block Manager and it worked fine. But there isn't a Random choice for the SideBlock.

Thanks for your help.

Looking forward to fixing the permission issue.

Not sure why I didn't put it in there.

Try putting the attached file in forum_root/includes/block/ folder
That will give you the option for random. But unless you change the cache time to 0, it will only regenerate every 5 minutes.

Done and worked perfectly. Thank you.

A little more info on the permission problem.

All the proper check boxes are selected in the instance table for the users - charter, monthly and regular members. The only thing that's different between the regular member levels and admin is in usergroups permission setting for Dragonbyte Tech: Gallery-General Permission - Is admin? For myself I of course have it check as yes. Everyone else is checked as no.

Are these happening on production? Not sure if you moved it over yet. If it is, can you give me a prod user account in one of those problem groups so I can see what's going on? If it's on dev, is there an account there I can use to test? I'm not finding the reason for the problems in my local files.

It's actually happening on both my live and test site. I just uploaded the 1.1.0 version to my test site and it's still not working as it should. Do you still have the login info for the test site? If not I can send it via PM.

ps
I have not upgraded the live site yet to 1.1.0. It's still using 1.0.4

I just uploaded 1.1.1. Try upgrading the test site to this one, I think I have the add to favorites and adding an album from the image upload fixed. btw, when you add an album there, you need to select it after from the list, then it should go to the next page. The list gets refreshed after you add the album.

EDIT:
btw, let me know if that fixes it or not. If it does then I'll put out a release notice for it :)

I uploaded the new files and xml.
dbtech_gallery_view_image_vb template was automatically merged.

The lower "add album" link in the upload process works fine after I write in the new album and then select it in the pulldown. It carries over to the next screen.

Three problems remain...

1- None of the 'save' buttons work. They look like they click but nothing happens. I think there are three, 2 save all and 1 save. I tried all of them but nothing happened.
2- The comments area is pushed to the left as seen in the attachment.
3- The commenting users name link returns an error message "Missing File."

Sorry to bring all these things up :(

Sok, would rather hear from you that have bugs out there :)
I just added 1.1.2, it should fix those 3 problems.
As before, upload the files, install the xml, revert that custom template you have then redo the changes.
One thing you might want to do is put in a feature request to have an ACP option to disable the link fields.

Let me know if this fixes those issues.

Thank you Dylan. Yes this fixed those three things nicely.

I'm still getting a permission error message when clicking the "Add To Favorites" button with a regular member. The admin can but a regular member cannot.

Just as an FYI... The save and save all buttons work and move me to the next screen perfectly. However I noticed when I went to "My Profile" I saw the photos I tried to save yesterday as inactive. So it kinda sorta worked before but I wasn't taken to the next screen and the photos weren't made active. I only noticed this just now. I figure it may help understand what happened in some way.

I will add a feature request to have an ACP option to disable the link fields. In this forum correct?

It looks like you didn't revert the view image template. I'm seeing the old code in there still and I double checked the file to make sure the new code was in there.

EDIT:
The problem you were having with the save all was an ajax error because of the custom field code I put in, worked fine if you had custom fields setup, was broken if you didn't :)

The way it works is, it uploads the image and puts it in your profile as inactive and places you on a page where you can fill out the info and save it. If you close the browser, the images will still be there accessible next time you view your profile where you can edit them and make them active.

You're right I forgot to revert the template. I did so and now the add to favorites is working for regular member level. Now I get to upload this to the live site. Don't know why it always makes me nervous to do that... lol

Thank you for the explanation on the save button error. I'm not much of a coder, but I can gleen a little out of that. Besides something in me likes learning this stuff as I go.

off the topic question:

I've seen this note above the comment editor box:
