So, hopefully you guys have used your arcades enough to build up some scores.
Now, I'd like to hear what you guys have in mind for what to do with them, from a management perspective.

Rules:
I dont want to hear about changing the direction of scoring (game editor) or disabling scoring (permissions system).
Keep in mind that games that dont support scoring (for whatever reason) have a backup score being the time played (higher is better).

If you used a previous arcade, what scoring management features did you like or dislike?
For everyone, what do you wish you could do (go ahead and repeat suggestions already made in the forum)?

I would like to have the ability to auto erase scores in a pre-defined time frame, i.e. every 7 days erase scores that are older than 7 days. This in my opinion helps to promote activity in the arcade. IF a new member joins your forum for just the Arcade and sees the leader board with other members games totaling hundreds of games, they do not want to hang around as it would take them forever to even get on the leader board. So if there were a task, that would auto erase scores on a pre-defined time frame that is controlled by the admin in the ACP, I think it would help to promote activity

Along with this, I would like to see that when scores are erased, that the hall of fame scores would remain in tact, if there is a HOF option, if there is no HOF option, would like to see that added so that the highest score of all time is maintained in a database and can be viewed in the game info block

I totally agree with legionaire.

Once a Month delete all the scores but keep a track on last Month scores. Or keep the scores for each Month and put them in an Archive Hall of Fame, after a while you can get the title Player of the Month, Player of the Quarter, etc.

My previous arcade was IPB, and the scoring management was not working at all, it did not remove all the scores so I'd to delete them manually in the database itself.

Note that vbarcade will not be actually deleting scores unless you do so from the admin screen (which will cause recounts) - otherwise havoc will be wrecked on statistics keeping, especially with global accountability.

I am considering some sort of archived state though, to perhaps accommodate some of these requests.

Here is a screenshot of how IPB Arcade is for score management

I also agree with legionaire's suggestions.

Keeping the hall of fame is good, but killing off high scores is a must and if we can do it automatically, even better.

I know that doesn't work with the idea of statistical tracking the way you want to do it, maybe another table is a better idea to keep "current" game data and the current one for the "historical" data?

This would also then allow my suggestion of being able to track only the highest score on a game per person, instead of 1 person having all 10 top scores, etc.

I have an idea although unsure of how good it is <lol>

Set up a category called 'competition' tag 8 games with the new category and post a thread for the competition. Top scores of all 8 games in a weeks time wins.

In ACP I would like to see who and how many points members are accumulating.

Able to have a block or widget to show such info on current competition running.

I am planning challenges/tournaments later. not sure it makes sense having it be for more than one game, since most of the time the ranges are completely different for whats good or bad, and the average admin i dont think has time to carefully select that.

i think having an archived level for scores should work. that wont go towards current high scores but still count toward the stats, plus still be used for the historical high.

if someone hasnt weighed in here, please try to: http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/threads/4730-Forum-score-and-Global-score

question: if a new score beats the historical high score (even though that high score is now archived), does the new score become the new historical high score too? Id like to say yes - because that makes everything nice and automatic.

I would have to agree, new highest score should become the new historical high score.

so... any comments on my archive system? does it accomplish everything? hows the automatic retire of old scores?

It's working great, scores can be deleted or archived, with the last one it can be viewed in de admincp.

Is it possible to make a view in the VBArcade itself with the archived scores ?
