This too is an old request, with kind of an either/or mentality. It's based on the philosophy behind how vbulletin.org hosts their mods.
Basically, I'd either like to see the comments system pumped up, or the regular vbulletin forum options integrated directly into the modification. These features are really useful for having a good discussion or getting technical support for files in the database:
Basically, I'd either like to see the comments system pumped up, or the regular vbulletin forum options integrated directly into the modification. These features are really useful for having a good discussion or getting technical support for files in the database:
- The ability to search through the comments - This is available for the automaticaly generated forum threads, but not for the comments system. Searching is vital when people want support.
- Some sort of notification when a file has been updated - vbulletin.org does this via that weird prefix system, and you can get this by forum thread if you subscribe to it (but only if the user posts an update, although DownloadsII's system automatically makes a "This has been updated post"), but the comments system has no way to manage it.
- Responses, Quotes, or Threaded Discussion - Basically, some way to tell who is replying to what. This isn't really an option with the built-in comments system, though it can be done with the forum threads.
