Is there any way to exclude threads without pictures to show in the slider?

Is there a way to have the slider show threads in order by their start date? I am looking to find a way to show the stories in order with the newest being shown first.

We use the zoints topic tag feature on our site to create rss feeds for our tags and to catalog our news. Is there a way to point the slider to display the threads and images from threads tagged with a specific tag?
