There isn't a link checker, no. Also, what do you mean by 'no longer existing links found?'?

I think he's talking about if you had a download linked to a remote site (even one you don't own). Basically content you have no control over. Sometimes those links get removed (as they don't like people hotlinking, or other reasons). Anyway, he's looking to have it automatically check for problems and then flag the download somehow so he knows to check it out.

Ahh ok. I suppose we could look at something that. It would be fairly site specific though wouldn't it? Also, doesn't the report link broken function do the same thing?

The report assumes someone will click the button, a link checker would automatically do it on a cron. Mostly not needed by most people, but those that do need it, it's probably pretty important to them.

I would like to link to an external website that offers a program. The manufacturer should remove this link, it would be ideal if vbDownloads checks the links on functionality

If even a few 100 links are present, it is very useful to check if the links are available on

there's nothing worse when a visitor clicks on a link which is no longer valid

Could be somewhat difficult to pull off though - many sites require captcha before downloading etc, and the checker would obviously be unable to do that - so it could show links up as dead which aren't, or miss some which are.

I would like to link only to official sites. These sites know I use and no captcha. The Link Checker was supposed to just check whether the link is reached.
